Project Implementation Unit (PIU), Song Dam is a dedicated body established under the Uttarakhand Project Development & Construction Corporation Ltd. to oversee the successful execution of the Song Dam project.
The PIU is responsible for coordinating all stages of the project lifecycle—from planning, design, and environmental clearances to construction and quality control. We work in close alignment with technical consultants, state departments, and local communities to ensure timely and sustainable project delivery.
The Song Dam project marks a major step forward in water resource management in the Doon Valley. Once completed, it will secure a reliable supply of drinking water to Dehradun city.
At PIU Song Dam, we are committed to ensuring that the project is implemented with the highest standards of safety, environmental stewardship, and socio-economic impact.
Background of the project
According to the availability of water at the proposed site, the scheme can cater the domestic water demand of additional 11 lakh people at the rate of 135 lpcd for Dehradun city and suburban areas. The preliminary investigations of this project were started in the year 2003 and detailed Geological studies are carried out by Geological Survey of India. Engineering and Environmental studies were carried out by IIT Roorkee as per requirement it is proposed to complete the project in five year time from march 2025 to march 2030.
